Meet the Fontana Team Behind Vance Gate Repair Fontana

Adrian Vance started this company in 2014 doing commercial access-control work, and he’s kept the same habit ever since: hire people who write things down. The Fontana crew is small on purpose. Every technician rides with a torque wrench, a camera, and a clipboard loaded with photo-log sheets. No subcontractors, no day-labor crews. When your gate gets fixed, the person who fixed it leaves you a written record of what they found and what they installed. That’s the whole job.

Our People

Marcus Delgado, Lead Gate Technician

Marcus has been with Vance Gate Repair Fontana since 2017 and runs most of the swing-gate and slide-gate diagnostics in the field. Before landing here he spent six years in industrial motor repair, which is why he tends to talk about duty cycles, capacitor ratings, and thermal overloads instead of just saying “the board went bad.” He’s the one Adrian sends when a gate has been worked on by three other companies and nobody can figure out what’s actually wrong. Marcus carries a Fluke meter on his belt and uses it on every motor call before he touches a single wire.

He grew up in Colton and still refuses to call the 10 freeway anything but “the San Bernardino.” Most weekends he’s rebuilding a 1978 Honda CB750 in his garage, one carburetor at a time.

Denise Ortiz, Senior Gate Installer

Denise leads the installation side of the house and has been setting steel posts and hanging gates since 2015. She came up through ornamental iron work, so she welds, grinds, and levels like it’s second nature. Her specialty is retrofit installs where the old gate is staying but the hinges, posts, or track have shifted out of square. Denise is the one who measures three times, marks the concrete with a grease pencil, and makes sure the gate swings clean past the fence line before the operator ever gets mounted.

She’s the crew’s resident rule-follower on the Haven Standard. If a photo log has a blurry corner or a part number that’s hard to read, Denise catches it before the truck leaves the driveway. Her kids say she alphabetizes the spice rack. She does not deny this.

Tommy Vasquez, Service Coordinator and Parts Runner

Tommy is the voice on the phone when you call at 11:40 on a Tuesday night and someone picks up on the second ring. He’s been with Vance since 2019 and handles scheduling, parts inventory, and the thankless job of tracking down a vintage Linear actuator bracket that hasn’t been manufactured since 2011. Tommy knows the difference between a FAAC 455D control board and a 455D with the external receiver, which saves a lot of return trips.

Before Vance, Tommy worked dispatch for an HVAC company, so he’s used to talking people through a bad day without making it worse. He keeps a whiteboard in the shop with every open job, every part on order, and a running count of coffee refills. His handwriting is terrible. His record-keeping is not.

Lena Park, Apprentice Technician

Lena joined the crew in 2024 as the first apprentice Adrian has hired since expanding the Fontana shop. She’s enrolled in a welding certification program at Chaffey College and spends half her week in class and the other half shadowing Marcus on service calls. Her job right now is the unglamorous backbone of gate work: checking photo-eye alignment, cleaning limit switch contacts, tensioning chains, and documenting everything with the inspection camera.

She’s already better at reading wiring diagrams than most techs twice her age, and she’s the reason every tool bag in the truck has a laminated color-coded legend for the nine motor brands Vance services. Lena keeps a notebook in her back pocket and writes down the torque spec on every bolt she touches. Adrian checks it. That’s how the apprentice becomes the lead.

One Standard, Every Job

One Standard, Every Job

The crew in Fontana works under one rule that doesn’t change with the weather, the day of the week, or the brand of gate on the property. Write the price down before work starts. Photograph what you found, what you set, and what you replaced. Leave the record with the customer. If something isn’t right within a year, come back and make it right without charging again.

That’s the Haven Standard, and it applies to a hinge replacement the same way it applies to a full gate installation with a new operator and safety edges. No exceptions for small jobs. No “we don’t do paperwork on Sundays.” The technicians don’t get to skip a photo log because they’re behind schedule, and they don’t get to quote a range and then change it at the end. A written price is a written price. Adrian built the company this way in 2014 after years of watching commercial access-control jobs get bogged down in disputes over what was promised. He decided the residential side would run on evidence instead of arguments.

Every crew member at Vance Gate Repair Fontana carries that paperwork habit into every driveway, every housing tract, every apartment gate and ranch entrance they touch. When you call (951) 476-1539, a real person answers. When a technician shows up, they hand you a name and a face before they ever ring the bell. And when they leave, you have a written record that shows exactly what happened to your gate. That’s not a slogan. It’s a clipboard with a photo log on it.
